  1. About Hartford

Hartford is the capital of the State of Connecticut. It is located in Hartford County on the Connecticut River, north of the center of the state and about 24 miles south of "sister-city" Springfield, Massachusetts. As of 2006, it had a population of 124,512, after New Haven which is second and Bridgeport which is the largest. (The State of Connecticut is sometimes still known as "the land of steady habits.")
